Engineer Educator for Experiential Projects

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and innovative engineer educator to support curriculum design, experiential design, and development of interactive, experiential STEM learning projects. This role will enhance our ongoing work by contributing technical expertise to STEM-based educational installations and curriculums.

Position: Engineer Educator for Experiential Projects (Contractual, Project-Based)
Timeline: Start ASAP – January through September 2025 (potential for annual renewal)
Commitment: ~2-3 hours per week, with flexibility for events. Competitive pay.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Engineering Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with designing, troubleshooting, and refining functional systems.

  • Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to innovate and adapt educational designs for maximum impact in immersive learning experiences.

  • Collaborative Communication: Comfortable working alongside educators, designers, and artists to bring ideas to life.

  • Interest in Education (Optional): While teaching is not required, familiarity with curriculum design, experiential learning or educational design is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a creative team to develop and refine engineering-based experiential learning projects.

  • Provide technical solutions and input to support our educational work, including curriculum and hands-on learning activities.

  • Contribute to the design of STEM-focused curricula in alignment with project goals and timelines.

A Plus…

  • Familiarity with Texas TEKS and/or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  • A passion for San Antonio’s ecosystem and engaging in STEM learning.

Experience:

  • Strong engineering or STEM background, with a preference for experience in middle or high school STEM programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to support curriculum and experiential design.

Check out our work! In 2022, we partnered with the non-profit MakeWater to develop a curriculum and enhance the experiential design for their DIY Water Purification Kit. This innovative program combines hands-on activities with digital instructional videos, enabling students to construct their own electrocoagulation water purification systems while deepening their understanding of the critical importance of clean water.

Installation supervisor

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Installation Supervisor to oversee and support the setup, execution, and management of our interactive installations. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth delivery of our immersive experiences. We envision this position as a cornerstone member of our team as we build our growing portfolio of activations.

Timeline & Commitment: Project-based, contractual by event

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising Installations:

    • Oversee and support the set-up and break down of individual small and large-scale immersive installations for events throughout the year

    • Provide leadership for large-scale events, including the Monarch Butterfly & Pollinator Festival, that includes 5–7 large scale installations, signage, and other tasks for a two-day event with over 10,000 attendees

  • Travel as Needed:

    • Flexibility to lead teams for installations in other cities

  • Creative Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with designers and artists to refine and elevate installation designs.

  • Operational Planning:

    • Develop mock-ups, organizational systems, and plans to enable the rental and reuse of installations.

  • Skills & Expertise:

    • Technical Expertise: Proficient in construction, fabrication, assembly, and troubleshooting of installations

    • Dependable: Able to complete work within a timeline and to quality standards

    • Artistic Eye: Able to contribute to the artistic and experiential design of installations

    • Leadership & Organization: Skilled in managing teams and coordinating with diverse groups, including city departments, nonprofits, artists, and contractors

    • Strategic Planning: Experience creating blueprints, organizational systems, and operational plans to enable the rental and reuse of installations

    • Communication: Skilled communicator that prioritizes direct, kind, and timely communication

    • Safety: Prioritizes the safety of both the installation team and the participants engaging with the installations

  • A Plus:

    • Interest or experience in education

    • Passion for the environment and dedication to inspiring the community to build meaningful relationships with nature and the ecosystem.

Overview: Join us as an Experiential Design Intern, where you'll gain hands-on experience in art, education, nature, and event planning. This is a unique opportunity to dive into the world of experiential design while working with a dynamic small business in San Antonio. 

Position: Experiential Design Intern

Timeline: April – October 2025  

Commitment: 4-5 hours per week (increasing closer to September and October events).  

Compensation: Paid internship.  

Hybrid Position: 

- Virtual during summer.  

- In-person starting August in San Antonio

- Peak season: August through early October.

Key Responsibilities:  

- Website Management: Assist in maintaining and updating the website.  

- Social Media: Create and schedule posts to engage our community with support from a graphic designer

- Meeting Support: Attend and take notes during planning and collaboration meetings.  

- Event Logistics: Help with coordination and logistics for upcoming events.  

- Material Management: Organize and order materials for projects.  

- Travel Opportunities: Participate in event-related travel, as needed.  

Ideal Candidate: 

- Excited to learn about and contribute to a small business.  

- Interest in art, education, nature, and event coordination.  

- Highly organized, with strong communication skills and attention to detail.  

- Open to hybrid work: virtual in the summer and in-person starting in August.
